My New Favorite Quote
    ShareThis
“The woods were my Ritalin.”

How can you not love that quote? Written by Richard Louv in his book, Last Child in the Woods, he continues, "Nature calmed me, focused me, and yet excited my senses."

If only more people knew about the healing effect of nature and its ability to relieve stress, there probably wouldn't be nearly so many people looking for artificial means to feel better. (This is merely my opinion; do not expect a Tom Cruise-like rant.)

Anyway, I'm very excited, because Richard Louv has agreed to an interview with www.wallsarebad.com which will be posted in the next couple of weeks. For those of you not familiar with his book, its premise is simple: "The child in nature is an endangered species, and the health of children and the health of the Earth are inseparable."

Called a 'must-read for parents,' and 'the most important book published since Silent Spring,' Last Child in the Woods has helped to inspire a national movement to 'leave no child inside.' Grab a copy for yourself, go curl up under a tree and soon you'll be hooked, just like I was. And feel free to share your thoughts, and favorite quotes, here on the site.

I bought my wife for mothers’ day the "Last Child in the Woods", since we just had a child ourselves. So far it''s an amazing read. Everything in the book so far reminds me of my brother and I and how much things have changed with technology driving what we do in our lives on a daily basis. It’s Time to get out and truly smell the roses.
