Two Extreme Ways to Experience Fall Foliage
    ShareThis
Looking for a fall foliage adventure that’s outside the box? Try one of these two exciting excursions. Neither is for the faint of heart, but both will give you the fall foliage experience of a lifetime.

1. Hot Air Balloon Tour - Float into Fall

Take an air-bound fall foliage tour of the Laurel Highlands with family-owned WindsAloft Ballooning of Somerset, PA. You’ll glide through the air and gaze upon colorful canopies on this wild and whimsical flight. The friendly and professional crew ensures that your tour is memorable and safe.

You’ll fly when the winds are calmest, either in the early morning or early evening. Flights last for an hour, but plan to spend a total of three or four hours with WindsAloft to allow for all the necessary preparations, etc. Every flight concludes with a champagne toast.

The cost is $200 per person and all balloon trips are weather permitting. Be aware that the pilot can cancel or postpone flights as he or she sees fit.

To book your flight or to learn more, visit www.windsaloftballooning.com or call 814-443-3625.

2. Skydive Tour – Dive into Fall

There’s nothing like looking down upon the glorious rainbow of colors while free falling from an airplane. The views are incredible and the rush, incomparable. Skydiving is the ultimate way to experience fall foliage.

Be prepared to have a heart-thumping time with Skydive Pennsylvania. Skydive Pennsylvania is located at the Grove City Airport about 50 miles from downtown Pittsburgh and is a USPA affiliated full-time commercial skydiving school. They are open evenings, Wednesday through Sunday.

Never been skydiving? No problem. There are three options available for first time jumpers, including tandem jumps with a professional, experienced instructor.

Their equipment is modern, well maintained and there are reserve parachutes with automatic activation devices on the reserves. And you will land on 25 acres of private property solely dedicated to thrill seekers.

The price range for skydiving varies according to the kind of jump you make or if you plan to obtain your license, but the average cost is around $230. In order to make the jump you must be in relatively good shape and all participants must register for a jump class. For tandem jumps you can often register and jump the same day. Keep in mind that the whole process can take several hours.

For more information please visit, www.skydivepa.com or to register, call 1-800-909-JUMP (5867).
