Summer is fast approaching and soon enough weekends will be beautiful and bright. Of course, that means you will want to get out and find some great activities to help you enjoy your leisure time outside (or else you wouldn’t be on this site in the first place). Maybe you want to learn some new skills this year – get into kayaking or dust off that GPS unit you got for Christmas. If you are looking to try some new activities or just for a fun afternoon with your family, come to Moraine State Park on June 12 for National Get Outdoors Day.
Get Outdoors Day is a national holiday that occurs on the second Saturday of June and is a day to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. Moraine is sponsoring this event and wants you to join us!
When: June 12, 12-6 PM
Where: Lakeview Beach at Moraine State Park
We are offering the following FREE equipment for rental throughout the day:
- Bikes
- Kayaks
- GPS units
- Disc golf discs
- Fishing rods (bait included)
There will also be Zumba classes on the beach every hour on the hour from 1-4:00 PM. No need to sign up - just come and be ready to sweat!
For the kids, we are offering scavenger hunts, crafts, face painting, and more! Come roast a marshmallow with Smokey Bear or try to catch the largest fish in the lake.
The child who catches the largest fish will win a fishing rod!
We will also have vendor booths and activities from Venture Outdoors, Butler Outdoor Club, Wind and Water Boatworks, L.L. Bean, Butler County 4H, Girl Scouts of Western PA, Bureau of Forestry, CMM Equestrian, and the Department of Agriculture’s Woodmobile.
And, of course, there’s always the beach for a refreshing swim if it gets too hot.
Come join us for a fun day in the sun at Lakeview Beach!
